The Forever Balancing Game of Life

I’m sure I’ve talked about this plenty of times. In many posts, using different words and scenarios. haha Like the title states…The Forever Balancing Game of Life.

I was scrolling through my IG feed. All walks of life there. Famous to normal humans.

We all live so different yet so the same. We all want to show the world a part of us. A piece of who we are. Life in 2019 seems to be defined through social media. I’m right there in the middle. I share, but not everything. Finding a balance is hard. We live in a time where there is so much available to us. So many things competing for our attention.

Much of the older generations don’t understand how we can spend hours on our smartphone. Kind of like how I feel about the music my son listens to. Like…is this really good music? And are they actually making money off of this? 🤦 The normalcy of children playing outside from dusk till dawn on the weekends is no longer normal. I played video games as a kid. Sega and Nintendo were cool but it didn’t beat hanging outside and climbing on the rooftop of our apartment building. I remember running up and down the stairs as my friends were chasing me. I have a vivid memory of one of the neighbors opening her front door looking half asleep irritated as hell with us. But…my best friend at the time was the granddaughter of the apartment manager so… 🤷 It was a small complex. About 20 units, two-story facing the street with a nice little front yard. I lived in the corner upstairs unit with a huge patio. Only the corner units had patios. Lucky us 😁 There was also a tree with yellow fruit right next to our living room window that was delicious. We had VIP access to it 😉 I never figured out the name of that fruit 🤔 The parking was behind the building facing the bedrooms. I remember my mom bought a pull-out stereo and didn’t take it out ONE night. Someone broke the passenger window and stole it. She swears it was a neighbor who recently moved in. And it probably was. Couldn’t trust your neighbors then and you still can’t now. So that part hasn’t changed, LOL.

I remember the long summer days. After breakfast guess what we did? We put on our shoes and knocked on doors to see who could come out and play. Rode bikes, walked to 7-Eleven for Slurpees, Hot Cheetos, and candy. Went from house to house finding different things to do. As soon as it got dimmer outside, I knew it was time to go home. Sometimes we’d push it and suddenly hear our mothers yelling for us. I can see my mom now power walking with that look on her face. Like…I’m gonna whip your ass. So dramatic parents can be 🧟 LOL Gosh, I remember feeling so free and happy.

Now, “fun” for kids is a little different. My son was lucky enough to grow up in a world similar to mine. Just add a few more hours of video games to it. I think his childhood was a good balance. He’s 18. So, of course, today’s time for young children are completely different. I don’t see kids playing outside so much. Parks aren’t as full as they use to be.

Some parents try to keep a balance of what childhood was like for them and what childhood is like now. They literally have to turn off the wifi in order to get their kids to play outside.

There is no age group immune to the internet and social media. Teenagers sharing every moment on Snapchat and adults sharing drunken nights out on Facebook. The world of business and advertising is no longer just mail orders and billboards. In order for your business to survive, you better advertise on all these social media platforms. Starting a business? You better pay that influencer if you want some real traction.

No doubt things have changed massively in my 37 years of living. There’s a revolution going on in politics right now. I am pretty happy to be alive during this time 🙂 #AOC

But, one thing that will never change in the evolution of life is… it’s the importance of having a good balance. In work, play and rest. In having a decent amount of movement. Exercise for your heart. A well-balanced diet. Know your body. What fuels your energy and what depletes it. Don’t give too much in relationships but also don’t take too much either.

Things will get out of sync often. Just remember if you’re not feeling good in some sort of way, in whatever capacity it may be…stop. You are out of balance. Find out why and get back to YOUR right balance. This helps from crashing.

Things are always shifting and changing. We’re forever trying to find that perfect balance. It sure does keep us on our toes right?

About me…let’s see….I would say I am a TRUE Virgo. If you knew me, then you would so agree. There are quite a few things I care deeply about. Off the top of my head, I would say with much passion, my family, friends, the environment and world peace. Oh and animals. Can't forget them. I think I love animals more than most humans, lol. I believe it’s important to surround yourself with good people. Be picky with who you let in your circle. The environment, the earth does not belong to us. We are merely just visiting for a period of time. So lets no abuse it. World peace, that’s a hard one. It’s not a perfect world, but wouldn't it be wonderful if every child, women and man were safe? We can’t change the world and every single soul living on earth. But one person can make a great difference in the surroundings in which they live. Wouldn't you agree? Let’s not forget what fuels my soul, music. It speaks for me when I can’t. It expresses my feelings when I am unaware of what they are. It has a way of lifting my spirits when I am down. It has this magical power that is able to touch my heart with just lyrics alone. I wouldn't know what I would do without it. Poetry, I love poetry. In all forms...written or spoken. I think that's it :) Wait, then there is God, the source of everything. Astrology, quantum physics, Abraham Hicks, Agape...I should just end this now, LOL.

Any thoughts?
