Jack of all trades, master of none. I’ve struggled with this my entire life! It’s difficult when you’re passionate about many things. After trying it my way for a couple of decades now, I can admit to myself that the saying is true.
Some of us only learn through hard lessons 🤦🏻♀️ We take longer to accept our limitations. I’m going to try and help you NOT waste as much time.
You can dabble in all the things you enjoy. But what is the ONE thing you gravitate to most? There has to be ONE thing you enjoy reading, listening to, and doing every single day. Really think about it because that one thing is a part of you. And not engaging with it daily throws you completely off. You literally live and breathe it.
Now that you’ve filtered out all the other many minor things, can you make money with your number one? I bet you can. People make money selling photos of their feet online! There are legitimate businesses around this space, and people have made thousands of dollars.
Brainstorm. Research all the different ways of others making money in your chosen passion. Can you create your own version of it? There are thousands of people in the fitness world. Each one of these people who’ve created businesses in this space is unique in their own way. One fitness trainer may vibe with her, but not him. How some deliver a message will resonate with you, but maybe not me. So don’t think of it as an overly saturated niche. There are billions of people in the world that haven’t tapped into all that is out there. And some people just weren’t ready then, but are now. You could be that person who helps guide them on their new journey.
The earth is large, filled with so many souls. The universe is abundant and just waiting for you to own your power and create.
The hardest part will be the in between. This is where most of the work comes in. Also, your best friend…self sabotage. You dread doing all the work that will be required because what if it fails? What if your social media pages have no traction? What if your courses don’t sell? What if no one buys your book? All the WHAT IFS are so damn loud, aren’t they?!!! I sympathize because I am also you. I’ve been there, done that. Furthermore, I also know time wasted will be your biggest regret.
So stop consuming so many motivational videos, podcasts, and books. Yes, those are all great educational tools. But don’t fool yourself into thinking it’s getting you closer to your dreams. ONLY ACTION will do that. The more work you put in every day will inch you closer. It doesn’t have to be hours of sweat and tears. It could be one habit a day that you start incorporating. I do a minimum of eleven squats and push-ups each day. Yes, eleven is my magic number 🙂 Some days, I do way more. But eleven every day is a must. Simple, right?
Some of us have demanding careers. A household of kids with a calendar filled to the brim. Can you find thirty minutes in your day still to write? To film a video? To paint? IF your dream means that much to you, I believe you’ll find the time.
Prioritize your dream. Your dream is your heart. Your dream is you. Whatever it is that dream may be, you have every right to pursue it. It’s not an afterthought. It’s not one day. It’s NOW. Setting small goals. Small daily habits. It builds momentum. Once you start to see results, how far these little commitments have taken you, you’ll want to do even more.
It’s like caring for a plant. Or even harder, like building a house. Both require constant effort, time, and attention to come into full fruition. This is why it’s important to pick one thing. Especially if the work involved to achieve the dream requires a tremendous amount of will power.
Remember, failure comes with the territory. It’s what you do after that will dictate whether you succeed or fail.
