Sometimes you come to a standstill. You’re stuck and don’t really know what to do. Should I stay or go? Should I speak my mind or not? Take the job or stay comfortable with where I’m at? If so, The Art Of Non Conformity is for you. But, lets talk about why we get stuck in the land of confusion, depression and sometimes just plain lost.
So, WHY do we find ourselves in these situations? Answer… LIFE. We constantly have to make decisions. It’s the pathway for living. Depending on how long you’re stuck at a standstill, it can be pretty disappointing or pretty life changing. When we make major decisions, it changes the course of our life. It can be great or horrible. But, once you’ve made a decision, you can move forward.
I was having an interesting conversation with a Facebook friend. Isn’t it strange how now a days you can connect with a total stranger online and build a relationship? I may never meet him, but it’s very gratifying to have someone you’ve never met, available to talk to when you need advice. Pretty crazy, yet amazing. Anyways, he said something to me….I can’t quote it word for word because I forget lol
“If you knew for sure you wouldn’t hurt anyone and you weren’t afraid of the future, would you leave?”
I was taken back by that question. Because when you’re at a standstill, stuck, you are constantly contemplating all the why’s, what if’s, should of’s, could of’s crap. It’s like there are no grantees to what will happen. You could lose everything if you make the wrong decision. So you stay…whatever it is that’s making you unhappy and unsure, you stay with it. A sense of security feels better than a sense of regret don’t it? That’s all fine and dandy but, you’re not really living to your potential. You’re missing out on what could be great for content.
Fear…I type that and shake my head at the same time. It holds us back so greatly. We miss out on so much because we’re scared. We want to be happy right? We want greatness. Real relationships, real friendships. We want excitement, we want passion. Fear gets the best of all of us. Some are able to acknowledge the fear and face it head on. Others make excuses for the fear and bow down. Which one are you?
If you’re someone who feels like something is missing, don’t ignore it. Figure out what it is you are missing. It may take time, a lot of soul-searching, but you must find out. Some of us need help from mentors, others will meditate, go on silent retreats, some will read…whatever it may be for you, find it and stay committed. You need to know who you are and what you want. Your true calling , and from there you can look at your life and see what is missing. Don’t let fear be your excuse or make excuses for your fears. If you really want a fulfilled life, you must take chances and pursue what your heart desires. I am also on this journey. Facing my fears. So if you’re willing to do it, know that you are not alone. If you choose to be brave, I commend you. Try and live a life with no regrets. Your decisions are made with deep thought, whether it turns out to be right or wrong, don’t regret it. Whatever happened needed to happen.
If you have stories to tell, you’re welcome to post an article on my blog. This way, you’ll help me and others be brave. It’s OK to stand alone, but it’s also nice to have support from those who understand you.
I want you guys to read this book. You’ll thank me for it. Trust me. The path to self-development and a fulfilled life is the willingness to have an open mind and the commitment to choose great over content. The Art Of Non Conformity will give you examples of those who gave into fear and those who overcame it. You’ll gain one very important thing in this book, and that is awareness. What you do with it is up to you.
Till next time, live, laugh, love.
