How often do you hear this? I would, but I can’t. I can’t afford to buy this; I can’t afford to invest in that. I CAN’T, I CAN’T.
That’s not the winning mentality. Winners ask themselves HOW? HOW can I buy that, HOW can I find the money to invest?
The “can’t” mentality is a negative mentality. It’s easier not to do. I mean working hard is hard. It takes heart, effort, persistence and perseverance. These things are not built in like a light switch. For others, it comes much easier. For some, it takes hard work. The beauty is you can become all these things.
The winning mentality is, “I will until….” Until I accomplish my goal. I will until I am successful. Winners don’t give up. Failure after failure, winners look at this as a learning lesson. If this didn’t work, they keep trying and trying until it works.
Winners take action. Procrastinators wait. They wait for the right time because of spouses, kids or money. They use the very reasons they should take action as excuses. How does that make sense? It’s only YOU that’s holding yourself back. It’s only YOU that’s getting in the way of your dreams.
I am a firm believer in “if there’s a will, there’s a way”. If your heart is in it, your mind and body will find the way. Keep at it; you don’t give up when something doesn’t go as planned. It will take time, it will take hard work. If you don’t have the winning mentality, then your first step would be to get it. Replace I CAN’T, with HOW CAN I…

I think Bob The Builder is a great role model for Children on the Winning Mentality. I loved his motto; “Can we fix it yes we can”. As I head closer to the dreaded big 50 I give my excuses for procrastinating and slowing down, but there is no excuse I should compete with myself to do every task better and faster every day.

Yes, this is so true, but it is more difficult for some than others. I think it comes from how we are raised. If we are told from the start that we can’t do something, or wouldn’t be good at something, or see our parents say “I can’t” all the time, then I imagine we would struggle more with this thinking. My daughter participates in gymnastics and they don’t allow the phrase “I can’t” and I love it! Maybe we should adopt this rule in our homes! Great post!

The only thing I paid for was the domain name. There are other platform sites that offer free services. If you have time to learn and play around with your site, I’d recommend trying a few different platforms. I’m not very savvy myself, a friend of mine helped create my header. From there I just tweaked a few things. Still a work in progress. I can set you up with her if you’d like. Just send me an email and we’ll go from there. She usually charges but I’m sure you guys can work something out :O) Take care.
